“In early 2019 we installed our first spot-welding line to extend our manufacturing capabilities and to offer a broader spectrum of possibilities for our customers. From the beginning we faced many issues with the newly introduced process and realized we were lacking the expertise to solve them. We had problems with product flow between workstations, arrangement of parts at the line and most notably problems with quality due to the alignment of components in our positioning jigs. DAFI greatly helped us out of those problems and offered a holistic process approach starting with a detailed analysis of our existing spot-welding process by using videos and 360-degree views of the work steps and the whole area. The team designed a new process flow by changing the welding sequence of components, new layout, and trolleys for part arrangement at the line and above all new positioning jigs for each workstation. The jigs not only improved quality due to stable part location but also enhanced ergonomics for the operators and reduced the cycle time by speeding up the loading and unloading of parts and components. Throughout the project the motivated engineers and project managers at DAFI provided great support and offered regular and structured status updates. Communication always felt very comfortable and unconstrained which made discussions pleasant and productive. The project with DAFI was overall a great success and we are definitely looking forward to the next one!”

When P84/P87 ASEAN projects started in Malaysia, due to rich experience in CKD project, DAFI GROUP Company Limited obviously become business partner for CKD2 body shop upstream activities. The body shop line is now in production and when the project decided to breakdown more sub-assemblies to increase the localization ratio, DAFI GROUP continued to be the natural partner for this activity.
